Drama in Maiduguri: Security Foils Break-in at VP Shettima’s Private Residence, Suspect Arrested

In a swift security response, operatives in Maiduguri foiled an attempted break-in at the private residence of Nigeria’s Vice President, Sen. Kashim Shettima, arresting a 35-year-old suspect in the early hours of Tuesday.

Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred at about 5:30 a.m. on April 9 at the Vice President’s home in New GRA, Gwange 3 Ward, off Bama Road, Maiduguri, Borno State.

The suspect, identified as Musa Ibrahim of Maduganari area, reportedly tried to scale the perimeter fence via the Gadabul River bank behind the residence. Upon sighting security personnel, he attempted to flee but was shot in the leg and apprehended.

He is currently receiving treatment at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH) and is said to be responding well.

The case has been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a thorough investigation, while security around the Vice President’s residence has been reinforced.
