A massive landslide in Nepal’s central district of Chitwan swept two buses into a river, leaving more than 60 people missing.

The catastrophe occurred early Friday along the Narayanghat-Mugling highway, about 100 km from Kathmandu.

Survivors recounted harrowing experiences, with one man saying he was “thrown out of the window of the bus into the river.

“Heavy monsoon rains triggered the landslide, which struck around 3:30 AM local time. Only three people are known to have survived.
