Nigerian doctors have once again handed down a fresh ultimatum to the Federal Government, demanding urgent action on their long-standing grievances.
In a statement reported by Punch, the medical professionals, under their various associations, warned that if government fails to meet their demands within the set timeframe, they may be forced to embark on strike — a move that could further cripple the nation’s fragile healthcare system.
Their demands include improved welfare packages, better working conditions, upgraded hospital facilities, and decisive measures to stem the tide of brain drain draining the country’s medical workforce.
The ultimatum has sparked fresh anxiety among Nigerians, many of whom fear that another doctors’ strike would severely limit access to healthcare services and worsen the struggles of patients already battling with poor medical infrastructure.
