The Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, has thrown his weight behind the creation of Karaduwa State, promising to work closely with Senator Muntari Dan-Dutse, the lawmaker representing Funtua Senatorial District in Katsina State, to actualize the dream.
Speaking in Funtua during the official flag-off of Ramadan food distribution and empowerment programs, Jibrin described the push for Karaduwa State as “apt and germane,” emphasizing that the region’s agrarian strength makes it well-suited for statehood.
“I welcome the agitation by the Karaduwa people. They have all it takes to have a state. I am supporting them despite the fact that it’s a bit difficult, but it is possible,” he declared.
The event, spearheaded by Senator Dan-Dutse, saw the distribution of essential items across 117 polling units in 11 local government areas, including over 5,000 bags of fertilizer, 3,795 bags of rice, tricycles, motorcycles, sewing machines, and grinding machines, among others.
Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Radda, represented by Deputy Governor Faruk Jobe, urged beneficiaries not to sell the items, highlighting his administration’s commitment to education, healthcare, agriculture, and security.
Meanwhile, Senator Dan-Dutse underscored his dedication to infrastructural development, citing the establishment of the Federal University of Medical and Health Sciences in Funtua. He revealed that N5.7 billion was allocated for the institution in the 2025 capital budget, alongside N5 billion in TETFund takeoff grants.
With growing political backing, the call for Karaduwa State gains momentum, setting the stage for what could be a historic development in Katsina’s political landscape.
