This Was part of the statement signed and made available by the media consultant to the reactor Babagana Bukar Wakil to the newsmen in Maiduguri on Thursday.
In a message delivered on behalf of the Governing Council, management, staff, and students, the Rector of the institution, Professor Garba Mohammed Ngala, praised Governor Zulum for his resilience and unwavering dedication to democratic governance, inclusive development, and human capital investment.
“On this momentous occasion of Democracy Day, we proudly celebrate Governor Zulum for his exemplary dedication to restoring hope, promoting inclusive governance, and investing meaningfully in education,” the Rector was quoted as saying.
Professor Ngala also expressed deep appreciation for the Governor’s consistent support to tertiary institutions, including the Federal Polytechnic Monguno, which was established on June 27, 2021, by former President Muhammadu Buhari to expand access to technical and vocational education in the North-East.
Since its establishment, the Polytechnic has made significant progress, now enrolling over 600 students across diverse programmes, supported by a workforce of more than 250 academic and non-academic staff. The institution has also developed multiple faculties—including Engineering Technology, Environmental Studies, Management Sciences, and General Studies—and continues to enhance its infrastructure with new lecture halls, laboratories, hostels, and administrative facilities.
According to the Rector, the institution is fast becoming a hub of innovation and skill development in the region, driven by the enabling environment created by the Zulum administration and other development partners.
“Governor Zulum’s passion for peace, stability, and youth empowerment through education has been instrumental in shaping a brighter future for our state. Federal Polytechnic Monguno remains committed to contributing to this vision,” Professor Ngala said.
As Nigeria marks another Democracy Day, the Polytechnic reaffirmed its support for policies that promote education, peace, and sustainable development across Borno and the nation.
