The military chiefs will oversee a significant operation aimed at neutralizing bandit groups, including the notorious Bello Turji gang, across Sokoto, Zamfara, Katsina, and Kebbi states. The relocation to Sokoto, the headquarters for the General Officer Commanding (GOC) overseeing these states, underscores the government’s unwavering commitment to restoring peace.

Dr. Matawalle expressed deep concern over recent incidents, including a video circulated by bandits celebrating the capture of a Nigerian military armored vehicle in Zamfara.

He emphasized that such acts of defiance will no longer be tolerated under President Tinibu’s administration.

“We are deploying all necessary assets to ensure that these criminal elements are flushed out,” Matawalle stated, urging the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with security forces. With military leadership now on the ground, the North West is set for a major crackdown on banditry, with the Federal Government leaving no stone unturned in its mission to protect lives and restore peace.
