Defence Minister Badaru Flags Optimism: New Helicopters to Crush Terrorism

Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, Badaru Abubakar, has declared the nation is nearing victory over terrorism, urging unified efforts to defeat enemies of the state.

Speaking at the commissioning of two ATAK-129 attack helicopters at the Nigerian Air Force Base in Katsina on Monday, Badaru reaffirmed the government’s commitment to empowering the military. He was joined by Air Marshal Hassan Bala Abubakar, Chief of Air Staff, during the ceremony held under Operation Hadarin Daji Sector 2.

“These helicopters mark a turning point in our fight against terrorism, banditry, and other security challenges. They represent the government’s resolve to restore peace across Nigeria,” Badaru said.

The Minister praised the military and urged collaboration among security agencies, traditional institutions, and communities to end insecurity.

Air Marshal Abubakar highlighted the ATAK-129 helicopters’ strategic impact, pledging continuous air support for ground forces in neutralizing threats.

This bold step strengthens Nigeria’s counter-terrorism arsenal, signaling a renewed drive for nationwide safety
