Defection Tsunami in Katsina: 3 PDP Reps Join APC

Katsina state government

By Abdullahi Inuwa

In a dramatic political shake-up, three House of Representatives members from Katsina State have officially dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The lawmakers representing Bakori/Danja, Safana/Batsari/Danmusa, and Mashi/Dutsi federal constituencies made their defection known in separate letters read on the floor of the Green Chamber.

While reasons for the switch remain under wraps, insiders hint at strategic alignment with President Tinibu’s policies and Governor Dikko Radda’s rising political influence in Katsina.

This development further weakens the PDP’s grip in the state and boosts the APC’s dominance ahead of the 2027 elections.

Political observers describe the mass defection as “a clear signal of shifting loyalties and changing tides in Katsina’s political landscape.”

Is this the beginning of a larger exodus from the opposition camp?
