Two police officers have been killed after a heavily armed group launched a sudden ambush on a patrol team in Sabon Sara village, Bauchi State.

According to a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the officers were on a routine visibility patrol comprising personnel of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Police Mobile Force (PMF), and the State Intelligence Department (SID) when the attackers opened fire on them.

The intense gun duel left **two officers dead**, while another sustained injuries. The police say the ambush was “unprovoked” and carried out by criminals determined to undermine security operations in the area.
