UYO — Operatives of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command have arrested a 27-year-old suspected armed robber in a swift, intelligence-led operation carried out in the early hours of Tuesday.
The suspect, identified as Wisdom Eyo, a native of Afaha Obong in Abak Local Government Area, was apprehended at about 4:50 a.m. following credible intelligence.
Items recovered from him include three rounds of 9mm calibre ammunition, one round of 7.5mm ammunition, a face mask, a pen knife, large motor bearings, and objects suspected to be charms.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect allegedly sourced the ammunition outside the state, specifically from Edo and Bayelsa States. Police say he has made useful statements, while further investigations are ongoing to track possible accomplices and uncover the full scope of his activities.
Reaffirming the Command’s resolve, the Commissioner of Police pledged continued proactive and intelligence-driven policing to safeguard lives and property across Akwa Ibom State, urging residents to provide timely and credible information to security agencies.
