Dangote’s Okpella Cement Bags ITF’s 2024 Best Employer Award

— Recognition celebrates firm’s impact on job creation and skills development in Edo State

Dangote’s Okpella Cement Limited has been honoured by the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) with the 2024 Best Contributory Employer Award, in recognition of its outstanding role in promoting job creation and workforce development in Edo State and across Nigeria.

The award presentation took place over the weekend at the company’s Okpella plant, where Mr. Ernest Nwachukwu, Head of Training at ITF Benin Area Office, presented the plaque and certificate to the Plant Director, Engr. Mohammed Ismaeel.

Mr. Nwachukwu described Dangote’s Okpella Cement as Edo State’s highest-performing company in workforce training and human capital development, commending its consistent collaboration with ITF in building a skilled labour force.

Receiving the award, Engr. Ismaeel said the recognition underscores the company’s proactive approach to industrial development and employment creation.

“This award validates our commitment to building a sustainable system where job opportunities can thrive and evolve,” he said. “It is not just for hiring people, but for empowering them with the skills and confidence to excel.”

He further noted that the honour belongs to every staff member of the Okpella plant, whose dedication to learning and innovation has driven the company’s success.

According to him, Dangote Cement’s partnership with ITF has set “a new benchmark for industrial excellence and corporate citizenship,” adding that continuous investment in staff training remains central to the company’s mission.

“By investing in continuous training, we are not just filling vacancies; we are equipping our workforce with future-proof skills,” Engr. Ismaeel stated.

He assured that the plant would continue to champion human capital development and sustainable growth, inspired by the ITF recognition.
