Sets Gantry Price at ₦877 Per Litre as Industry Awaits Full-Scale Rollout
LAGOS — The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has officially launched a pilot program for the sale of 600 million litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) to 20 accredited depot owners, marking a major step toward stabilizing Nigeria’s downstream oil market.
The initiative follows a series of high-level meetings between the refinery’s management and key downstream operators to establish an organized and transparent product distribution framework.
Under the new arrangement, each depot owner will lift 30 million litres of petrol between October 10 and October 31, exclusively from the refinery’s truck loading area and marine terminals.
According to industry sources, the refinery has pegged its gantry price at ₦877 per litre, a rate that factors in logistics and regulatory considerations under the revised distribution structure.
The pilot scheme features prominent industry players, including NNPCL Retail, A.Y.M. Shafa, A.A. Rano, Salbas Energy, Northwest Petroleum, Rainoil, Ardova, Optima Energy, Masters Energy, Bovas Group, Dan Marna Petroleum, NIPCO Plc, Pinnacle Oil and Gas, Heyden Petroleum, Sunbeth Global Concepts, Mainland Oil and Gas, NEPAL Oil and Gas Services, MRS Oil Nigeria Plc, Conoil Plc, and TotalEnergies.
Officials say the program will serve as a prototype for a full commercial rollout, aimed at improving supply chain efficiency, ensuring market stability, and reducing product-handling complexities.
Only accredited partners will participate during the pilot stage to enable close monitoring and streamline tracking of product movement, ensuring accountability across the distribution chain.
With this development, the Dangote Refinery edges closer to its long-awaited commercial-scale petrol supply, a move expected to reshape Nigeria’s energy landscape and boost confidence in the nation’s refining capacity.
