The Joint Border Patrol Team (JBPT) Sector 4, North West Zone, led by Comptroller Aminu Abubakar, has intercepted smuggled goods worth over N186 million between April and September 2024.
A recent high-profile seizure included a trailer carrying 693 sacks of donkey bones, violating international wildlife trade conventions.
Officers also confiscated 67 bags of NPK fertilizer, illegal without proper certification due to security concerns.
During a media briefing on Thursday, September 19, Comptroller Abubakar highlighted the crucial role of intelligence sharing and inter-agency cooperation in securing the region’s borders, noting the continuous threat posed by smuggling.
He also revealed that 103 migrants were refused entry and 3 human trafficking victims rescued.
Abubakar urged media outlets to raise awareness about the dangers of smuggling to national security.
