The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has revealed that the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) pulled in a massive ₦658.6 billion revenue in September 2025, one of its highest monthly collections this year.
According to reports by Punch and Vanguard Newspapers, the announcement was made by NOA’s Director-General, Lanre Issa-Onilu, during the monthly National Joint Security Press Briefing in Abuja.
Issa-Onilu said the impressive performance shows that ongoing reforms in the Customs Service are paying off. He explained that the achievement came from tighter enforcement, better stakeholder engagement, and the rollout of the new One-Stop-Shop (OSS) platform, a system meant to speed up cargo clearance and reduce revenue leakages.
He added that the government’s focus on non-oil revenue is beginning to yield results, with Customs playing a key role in boosting the country’s financial stability.
Citing Punch, the Customs Service has already raked in about ₦3.6 trillion between January and June 2025, putting it on track to meet its ambitious ₦10 trillion annual target.
Analysts say the strong September performance is a welcome boost for government finances but urge Customs to maintain transparency and consistency across all its commands to sustain the momentum.
