Uyo, May 26, 2025 — The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has scored a major breakthrough in its war against cultism with the arrest of a suspected notorious cultist, 38-year-old Effiong Umoh, in Utine Nduong, Okobo Local Government Area.
Acting swiftly on credible intelligence, police operatives swooped in and apprehended Umoh, recovering a locally made pistol and a cutlass during a search operation.
Police spokesperson DSP Timfon John confirmed the arrest in a press release on Monday, adding that discreet investigations are ongoing to track down other members of the suspected cult group and seize more weapons.

The Command reaffirmed its commitment to ridding Akwa Ibom of criminal elements threatening the peace and safety of citizens.
