Cult Kingpin Falls: Akwa Ibom Police Nab ‘Akpago’, Recover Gun, Ammo, Charms in Daring Raid

In a major breakthrough against cult-related violence, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command has apprehended a suspected notorious cultist, Gospel Bassey, popularly known as Akpago, in a decisive operation carried out at his hideout along Lutheran Road.

The 28-year-old suspect, hailing from Iwuochang Village, was arrested following a professional, intelligence-led raid. Police operatives recovered a locally made long pistol, one live 8mm AK-47 ammunition, a red beret, suspected charms, and hard drugs at the scene.

Preliminary interrogation revealed that the suspect is a hardened cultist, who confessed to being a member of the feared JVC cult group. Authorities say investigations are ongoing to uncover more links and possible accomplices.

Police spokesperson DSP Timfon John assured the public that the command remains committed to ridding the state of cultism and other criminal elements.
