The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has apprehended four suspects linked to a network of vandalism and theft, following a strategic intelligence-led operation in Uyo.
The coordinated raid, which kicked off at about 4:45PM on July 15, 2025, began after the arrest of Aniekpeno Essien Isaac, whose confession led detectives to two scrap dumps used as hideouts for stolen public and government property.
By 9:00PM the same day, operatives swooped in on the locations, arresting three more suspects: Moses Indiana, Nwokoro Onyemelum, and Nnabuike Okonkwo.
Recovered from the sites were: Pieces of dismantled generator sets, Vandalized government aluminum electric cables, Roofing sheets and burnt copper electric wires, A brand new assortment of spanners also Half bag of 5-inch nails, An empty 5KG gas cylinder and Galvanized pipes and angle bars.
All items are suspected to be stolen assets from public infrastructure.
According to DSP Timfon John, the Police Public Relations Officer, investigations are ongoing to unravel the full extent of the criminal ring.
The Command reaffirmed its resolve to rid the state of all forms of criminal activity and warned that all perpetrators of infrastructure sabotage will face the full weight of the law.
