Crackdown on Cattle Theft Syndicate Unveiled in Gombe State

In a significant breakthrough in the fight against crime, the Gombe State Police Command, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police, CP Hayatu Usman, has revealed the arrest of a syndicate suspected of cattle theft.

Assistant Superintendent of Police, Sharif Saad, delivered the briefing on behalf of Commissioner CP Hayatu Usman.

The suspects, identified as Adamu Hussaini, Usman Abubakar, Lamarana Abdullahi, Bayero Abdulkadir, Maikudi Babawuro, Yunusa Buba, and Idi Buba, were apprehended following a formal complaint lodged by Ya’u Hassan at the Pindiga Divisional Headquarters, Akko LGA, on January 20, 2024, at approximately 10:30 PM. The complaint detailed the theft of cattle by unknown individuals.

A swift and thorough investigation was launched, culminating in the arrest of the aforementioned suspects, all hailing from various villages within the Tumu-pindiga district of Akko LGA, as well as Gujiba village in Kaltungo LGA. The suspects, ranging in age from 19 to 40 years, have reportedly confessed to their involvement in the crime.

The charges leveled against the suspects include criminal conspiracy, house trespass, and theft. Despite their confessions, the case remains under investigation as authorities work to gather further evidence and ensure a comprehensive legal proceeding.
