A Federal High Court in Kaduna has threatened the Managing Director of Shema Petroleum Limited, Alhaji Nagogo Mamman, with imprisonment for alleged contempt of court.
Justice R. M. Aikawa, in an order dated July 22, 2025, barred Mamman and his agents from conducting or continuing any business in the name of Shema Petroleum pending the hearing of a substantive motion filed by Sirajo Abubakar Jalli-Gambo and Suleiman Sagir.
The plaintiffs, through their counsel, M.S. Katu (SAN), had sought an interim injunction to halt the company’s operations over a dispute now before the court. The judge granted the request after reviewing a Paragraphs affidavit deposed to by Muhammad Katun, supported by exhibits and a written address.
On August 4, 2025, the court’s registrar served Mamman a notice of consequences of disobedience, warning that failure to comply with the July 22 order would attract a prison term. The notice, issued under Section 72 of the Sheriff and Civil Process Act, carried a copy of the restraining order.
The injunction restrains Mamman, his agents, privies or any representatives from doing business in the company’s name until the motion on notice is heard and determined.
The court’s warning was delivered to Shema Petroleum’s office on Yakubu Avenue, Unguwan Rimi GRA, Kaduna.
The case, filed as Suit No. FHC/KD/CS/81/2025, is still pending before the Kaduna Judicial Division of the Federal High Court.
