Court Stops Removal of Two District Heads in Sokoto Emirate Bill Dispute

Katsina state government

In the midst of a heated debate over the proposed law affecting traditional institutions in Sokoto State, the High Court has issued a ruling preventing Governor Ahmed Aliyu from removing two of the 15 District Heads previously ousted by his administration.

Alhaji Buhari Tambuwal and Alhaji Abubakar Kassim, the District Heads of Tambuwal and Kebbe, respectively, requested the court’s intervention.

They were among those recently dismissed by the state government amid allegations of disobedience and contributing to insecurity in the state.
