Fresh crisis has rocked the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Adamawa State as a court ordered the immediate suspension of the party’s congresses slated to begin today.
The ruling followed a suit filed by factional chairman, Shehu Yohanna, deepening the power struggle tearing the party into three rival camps.
The crisis pits loyalists of former SGF Babachir Lawal—reportedly backing ex-Governor Jibrilla Bindow—against supporters of Aisha Binani, as well as Yohanna’s faction.
Tensions escalated further as Senator Ishaku Abbo announced a boycott of the congresses, accusing party leaders of sidelining Binani’s camp in negotiations over the party structure.
Binani herself has also rejected the exercise, refusing to participate in congresses organised by the rival faction.
The court’s intervention now throws the party’s plans into uncertainty, as the deepening divisions threaten ADC’s chances ahead of the Adamawa governorship race.
