Katsina State Government has expressed concern over the delay of Staff Quarters construction by some Contractors handling the project in some Health Centers selected for remodeling at three Political Wards in each of the 34 local government areas of the state.
Supervising Commissioner of the Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Hon. Bishir Tanimu Gambo disclosed this shortly after Media Team of the Ministry completed assessment tour across the three Senatorial Districts of the state.
The Commissioner said the unnecessary delay by the Contractors handling the project affects government efforts toward improving health care delivery to the common man.
He charged wanting Contractors handling such projects to ensure speedy complishing to avoid inconveniences.
The Director Works Engineer Umar Faruk Abdullahi led the Media Team to Funtua, Daura and finally Katsina Senatorial District during the conduct of the assessment tour.
Engineer Umar Faruk Abdullahi advised Chairmen of the affected LGAs to as a matter of urgency call the attention of such Contractors in their respective areas on the need to urgently complete the project.
In a separate interviews, some L GA Chairmen in Katsina Senatorial Districts, commended the state government for the viable project, but lamented the delay in the construction of the staff quarters hence the need for the state government to come in by inviting the affected contractors for discussion.
Some beneficiaries who were interviewed separately registered their satisfaction and advised government to revoke such contracts from wanting Contractors, this according to them will serve as deterrent.
Katsina Senatorial District comprised of eleven local government areas that include Batsari, Batagarawa, Charanchi, Dan musa, Dutsinma, Jibia, Kaita, Katsina, Kurfi, Rimi and Safana.
