In a bid to bolster the welfare and readiness of troops, the Commander of 17 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Babatunde Omopariola, officially commissioned the newly equipped 17 Brigade Dental Centre and a series of other welfare projects at Natsinta Cantonment, Katsina, on Wednesday, 8 January 2025.
During the commissioning ceremony, Brigadier General Omopariola reiterated his commitment to enhancing the medical and welfare standards for troops and their families, emphasizing that the newly upgraded Dental Centre will play a pivotal role in meeting the health needs of personnel stationed at the cantonment. He further underscored the importance of maintaining the facilities to ensure their longevity and continued service to the community.
The event also saw the unveiling of various sports facilities aimed at promoting physical fitness and well-being. The newly constructed infrastructure includes a five-a-side football pitch, a lawn tennis court, a volleyball court, a squash court, and a badminton court—each designed to provide troops and their families with recreational outlets that contribute to overall health and morale.
In his address, Brigadier General Omopariola encouraged personnel to make the most of these state-of-the-art facilities, assuring that their proper use would not only benefit current residents but also pave the way for future welfare projects within the cantonment.
The highlight of the event included the ceremonial cutting of commissioning tapes, a comprehensive tour of the facilities led by the Brigade Commander and Principal Staff Officers, and a live demonstration by the medical team on the newly introduced health records system, showcasing the army’s embrace of modern healthcare technologies.
