Closeout:Fhi360, alive, thrive hails Yobe Gov’t for successful mandate

A Non-Governmental Organization,fhi 360/ alive and thrive Senior Technical Adviser, Monitoring and Evaluation Officer Mr. Duke Lawrence Ogbokor commended Yobe State Government for creating an enabling environment for the organization to successfully achieved its mandate in the state.

Mr. Duke made the commendation on Tuesday in Damaturu during a Project Closeout,”Accelerating the Scale material,infant and Young Child Nutrition (MIYCN) interventions in Nigeria”.

He said accepting, the three Community Based Officers (CBOs) by the Yobe State Government that oversees the organization office, the state government and the Communities in Yobe has helped them improve a lot in what relates to maternal, infant, and young child nutrition(MIYCN)in the state.

He explained that during the three-year project in the state, the organisation concentrated on strengthening the health system through the areas of building the capacity of the healthcare workers to help improve the quality of life for Mothers and Children.

In opening remarks,the Yobe State Commissioner Ministry of Health and Human Services,Dr Mohammed Lawan Gana, represented by the Director Public health of the ministry, Dr Hauwa Goni,said the partnership between the Yobe State Government and fhi360 has impacted positively in educating community members,families, community engagement,focal persons,religions and traditional leaders on the things that causes malnutrition.

Speaking on the areas of clinical care Dr Gana pointed out that the organization has also supported the state in the training of health workers, Doctors, Nurses, Midwives and other community health workers.

Therefore, assured the organization of the sustainability of the project in the state as they already have strategic and operational plan nutrition in the state.

In their separate remarks at the event,the Executive Secretary of the State Primary Health Care Management Board, Dr Babagana Kundi Machina, and the State Coordinator of NAFDAC,Lawan Musa Dadingelma, commended fhi360 for the support, saying it would play a vital role in safeguarding the health of the mothers and the children.

At the event,the fhi360 donated some equipments to includes; monitoring and evaluation data tools, phones,IEC materials, and MIYCN equipments to Yobe state government respectively.
