As bells ring and hearts glow with hope across the world, warm Christmas greetings go out to our Christian brothers and sisters, with prayers and goodwill on this blessed day that celebrates faith, compassion and renewal.
Beyond being a sacred Christian observance, the birth of Christ carries a universal message — one of mercy, peace and love for all humanity. It is a reminder that faith, at its finest, draws people together and elevates the shared values that bind the human family.
In Islam, Jesus Christ, son of Mary, is revered with exceptional honour. The Qur’an describes Jesus as a Word from God and a Spirit from Him, while Mary is exalted as one of the purest and most righteous of women. Islamic faith is incomplete without belief in Jesus, Mary, and all the prophets and messengers sent to guide humanity.
Indeed, the Qur’an gives remarkable prominence to Jesus and his mother — mentioning Jesus by name and title more than sixty times, and honouring Mary with repeated reverence. This distinction underlines a profound truth: the message of Christ is not confined to one community, but stands as glad tidings for the whole world.
On this holy day, prayers rise that peace may fill every heart, heal divisions, and strengthen the bonds of love and mutual respect among people of all faiths. In a world yearning for harmony, Christmas echoes a timeless call — that justice, mercy and tolerance must remain our common ground.
As followers of different traditions, we walk separate paths of worship, yet share one destiny as members of a single human family. It is in this spirit that the legacy of all prophets, including Muhammad, reminds us to uphold dignity, compassion and unity among humankind.
