Celebrating an Icon in Education

Katsina state government

By Engr Bashir Bukar Mohammed

Today, I woke up to a heartwarming call from a secondary school student in some of our government schools, joyfully sharing the news that they achieved 9 credits in their WAEC results.

This remarkable achievement did not happen overnight. It is the product of vision, effort, and unwavering commitment. The leadership of His Excellency, Engr Babagana Umara Zulum, coupled with the dedication of Engr. Lawan Abba Wakilbe, our Commissioner for Education, has redefined what Quality Education for All truly means in Borno State.

Through the employment of qualified teachers, the creation of world class learning environments, prompt payment of teachers’ salaries and welfare, and the timely settlement of WAEC fees, they have erased the gap between private and public school performance.

Today, there is no disparity. A student in a public school stands shoulder to shoulder with their peers in private schools, equally capable of excelling.

We celebrate these icons whose determination, dedication, and policies have restored pride and hope in our education sector. The results speak for themselves, and the future of Borno’s children has never looked brighter.
