Cattle traders at Umuchieze Garki cattle market in Abia State have taken legal action against the state government’s plan to convert the market into a non-residential area.
Despite government efforts to transform the market, traders are fighting to maintain their living arrangements.
Led by spokesperson Buba Kedemure, they’ve filed a lawsuit (No. HUM/9/2024) against state officials, including the Commissioner for Lands and the Attorney General.
The court will hear their plea for an interim injunction on March 13, 2024.
