In a swift crackdown on criminal activity, the Niger State Police Command has arrested four suspected kidnappers in Rijau Local Government Area, recovering firearms believed to have been used in recent abductions.
Sources within the command told Zagazola Makama that the arrest came after a tip-off from the Divisional Police Officer in Rijau on April 12, 2025, around 9:00 a.m.
The suspects — Shehu Mohammed (35), Mamman Sani, Daudu Mohammed (37), and Jibrin Ahmodu — were caught with two locally made pistols and a dane gun. Preliminary investigations linked them to the March 2025 kidnapping of Amina Mallam Sarkin-Noma Gatta from Agwa Gwanda village.
Despite an agreed ransom of ₦3 million, the victim bravely escaped the next day and later helped identify one of her abductors.
Police say all four suspects have confessed and remain in custody as investigations continue.
