A bold move to reposition Yobe State as a major commercial and logistics hub in the North-East, the Executive Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has completed the ultra-modern Potiskum Truck Transit Park, a massive infrastructure project designed to boost trade, ease transportation bottlenecks, and stimulate economic growth.
The sprawling transit park boasts drivers’ accommodation, warehouse facilities, a modern wash bay, and an impressive 500 trailer parking spaces, providing a secure and well-organised environment for haulage operators and traders moving goods across Yobe and beyond.
Abdullahi Bego Commissioner Ministry of home affairs, information and culture say the project is a strategic response to Potiskum’s status as a commercial nerve centre linking several states and neighbouring countries. By offering a conducive, orderly, and safe transit point for heavy-duty vehicles, the park is expected to significantly reduce roadside congestion while improving turnaround time for goods.
Beyond infrastructure, the project carries huge social impact. Upon commissioning, the Potiskum Truck Transit Park is projected to create no fewer than 5,000 jobs for Yobe youths, spanning security, facility management, logistics services, trading activities, and allied businesses.
Residents and stakeholders have described the project as a game-changer, noting that it will attract investors, strengthen local commerce, and inject fresh life into the state’s economy.
With this landmark development, the Buni administration has once again underlined its commitment to using infrastructure as a catalyst for prosperity—turning Potiskum into a gateway of opportunity and a rising logistics powerhouse in northern Nigeria.
