Damaturu — Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has fired a strong message at parents and guardians, declaring that the battle for a disciplined, peaceful and prosperous society must be won first inside the home.
The governor charged parents to take full responsibility for the moral upbringing of their children, warning that when values collapse at home, society pays the price in insecurity, indiscipline and social decay.
“No government can replace the role of parents. If the home fails, the nation struggles,” Buni said.
He stressed that children who grow up without proper guidance easily drift into crime and anti-social behaviour, insisting that discipline, respect, hard work and fear of God must be deliberately taught from an early age.
Governor Buni noted that while his administration continues to invest heavily in education, youth empowerment and social development, such efforts would yield limited results without strong parental involvement.
According to him, the family remains the first school and parents the first teachers, whose daily actions speak louder than laws, policies or sermons.
He therefore called on parents, guardians and community leaders to reclaim their traditional roles as moral anchors, saying the future leadership, peace and stability of Yobe State depend on the values being sown in today’s children.
As Yobe charts a path of recovery and growth, the governor maintained that raising morally upright children is not just a family duty, but a collective investment in the state’s tomorrow.
