Yobe State Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, has sworn in new appointees to strategic positions in his administration, urging them to bring innovation, dedication, and renewed energy to drive effective service delivery across the state.
The newly appointed officials include Yerima Lawan Mahmud as Commissioner for Livestock Development, Abdullahi Musa Shehu as Head of Service, Mohammed Bukar Ibrahim (Abbati) and Yahaya Inuwa Barde as Special Advisers, and Abdulrahman Malik as Statistician General.
Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony held at the Government House, Damaturu, Governor Buni highlighted the administration’s resolve to boost productivity through visionary leadership and accountability.
He described the creation of the Ministry of Livestock Development as a milestone initiative aimed at harnessing Yobe’s vast livestock potential to strengthen food security and diversify the state’s economy.
“The ministry will focus on developing veterinary clinics, providing water points, establishing fodder banks, and expanding vaccination programmes to make Yobe a leading hub of livestock production in Nigeria,” the Governor stated.
Governor Buni charged Commissioner Mahmud to work diligently to achieve the objectives behind the establishment of the ministry, while tasking the new Head of Service to revitalise the civil service, uphold transparency, and ensure due process.
He also urged the Special Advisers to leverage their grassroots connections to promote inclusive governance and ensure that government policies reflect the aspirations of the people.
Similarly, the Governor called on the new Statistician General to generate accurate and reliable data to support evidence-based policy formulation and efficient service delivery.
Buni reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to repositioning the public service for greater efficiency, assuring continuous investment in training and institutional strengthening to meet citizens’ expectations.
The Governor concluded by calling on the people of Yobe State to continue supporting and praying for both the state and federal governments, stressing that unity and collective effort remain vital to building a peaceful and prosperous Nigeria.
