Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State on Thursday presided over a landmark swearing-in ceremony, ushering a new wave of leadership into the state’s public service.

The ceremony saw the official inauguration of Abba Alhaji Mamadi as the new Grand Khadi, alongside five Special Advisers, thirteen Permanent Secretaries, and a Permanent Member of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).

Describing the event as “a new chapter in the history of the state and lives of the individual appointees,” Governor Buni expressed confidence in the capacity of the new officials to drive reforms and deliver quality service in line with his administration’s vision.

He particularly hailed the Grand Khadi, Abba Alhaji Mamadi, as “a seasoned jurist with vast knowledge and experience, eminently qualified for the office.”

On education, the governor reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to strengthening foundational learning, reminding the appointee to SUBEB of the weighty responsibility ahead.

> “Yobe State has earned commendation from the Federal Ministry of Education as a role model in foundational education among the sub-nationals,” Buni noted.

He attributed this feat to consistent payment of counterpart funds to the Universal Basic Education Commission, which has enabled the state to access matching grants for projects, alongside investments in school feeding, instructional materials, and examination fees.

Turning to the broader mandate of governance, the governor charged the new team to “strengthen due process, be proactive, and inject fresh ideas” to accelerate service delivery.

> “Government will continue to equip and reposition the public service to be more responsive to current demands for speedy and effective implementation of policies and programmes,” he assured.

The ceremony not only celebrated appointments but also underscored the administration’s resolve to deepen institutional efficiency and accountability in Yobe.
