Buni Offers Automatic Jobs to 416 Nursing Graduates in Yobe

Borno State Government

In a bold move to strengthen healthcare delivery, Mai Mala Buni has approved automatic employment for 416 newly graduated nurses and midwives in Yobe State.

The governor made the announcement at the graduation ceremony of Shehu Sule College of Nursing Sciences, held in Damaturu, where he was represented by his deputy, Hon. Idi Barde Gubana.

The beneficiaries include 158 Community Nurses, 196 Basic Nurses and Midwives, and 62 Higher National Diploma holders, all deployed to boost manpower across the state’s health sector.

Buni said the decision targets critical personnel shortages, noting that sustained government investment in the college over the past seven years is already yielding tangible results.

He revealed that over 3,500 healthcare workers have been employed in recent years—many from the same institution—underscoring his administration’s commitment to building a robust and efficient healthcare system.

Earlier, Provost Hajiya Hadiza Sabo disclosed that the college has produced 1,485 graduates between 2019 and 2026, all granted automatic employment, a policy she said has significantly improved recruitment and retention of health professionals in Yobe.
