The All Progressives Congress has moved decisively to douse internal tensions as its Strategy, Conflict Resolution and Mobilisation Committee, chaired by Mai Mala Buni, on Monday held its inaugural meeting—signalling a renewed push for unity, reconciliation and grassroots mobilisation.
The high-powered committee met to chart a clear roadmap for resolving lingering disputes and neutralising potential threats capable of undermining the party’s cohesion ahead of future political engagements.
In a statement issued by Mamman Mohammed, Director-General, Press and Media Affairs to Governor Buni, the committee boasts a formidable lineup of governors and party heavyweights drawn from across the federation. Among them are Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq; Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma; Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia; Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani; Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara; Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi; Cross River State Governor Bassey Otu; Ekiti State Governor Abiodun Oyebanji; and Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
Also on the committee are Senator Adamu Aliero; Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola; Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle; former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello; Senior Special Assistant to the President on Political Affairs, Alhaji Ibrahim Masari; with Muiz Banire (SAN) serving as Secretary.
Speaking at the committee’s inauguration last December, Governor Buni underscored its peace-building mandate, pledging inclusive engagements and wide consultations aimed at restoring confidence among aggrieved members.
“The committee will adopt strategic engagements and broad consultations to develop all-encompassing and productive outcomes that will stand the test of time,” Buni said. “Our goal is to give both old and new members—especially aggrieved parties—a genuine sense of belonging and renewed hope.”
He added that the panel would deploy proactive measures to pre-empt conflicts before they escalate, urging members to rise above personal interests. “We must not allow sentiments to override the collective interest and the purpose for which this committee was constituted,” he cautioned.
With its inaugural meeting now concluded, the Buni-led committee has set the tone for what party insiders describe as a no-nonsense peace drive—one aimed at fortifying the APC’s internal stability and electoral readiness nationwide.
