The Yobe State Commissioner for Home Affairs, Information, and Culture, Hon. Abdullahi Bego, has reiterated that the administration of Governor Mai Mala Buni, places high priority on the support and empowerment of women and students across the state as part of its vision to elevate Yobe to greater heights.
In a statement signed by Ali Musa Yawale the HOD information services said, The Commissioner made this statement when the Voice of Women in Nigeria Leadership Initiative, led by its Secretary, Hajiya Habiba Adamu, and the National Union of Yobe State Students (NUYOSS), Yobe State University Chapter, led by its Senate President, Comrade Mu’azu Ya’u, paid him a courtesy visit at his office in Damaturu.
Hon. Bego emphasized that the governor believes women, as vital pillars of the family structure, deserve enhanced support and empowerment to help them navigate the current economic and financial challenges facing the state.
He noted that since its inception, the Buni administration has positively impacted the lives of many women through the Ministry of Wealth Creation, Empowerment and Employment Generation, Ministry of Women Affairs, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), and other initiatives aimed at making women self-reliant and productive members of the society.
He used the opportunity to assure the women’s group of his ministry’s commitment to supporting efforts that protect the rights and welfare of women and children for a more just and equitable society.
On the students’ visit, Hon. Bego stated that the Buni administration considers investment in the education sector as fundamental to sustainable development.
He added that from 2019 to date, the government has sponsored over 38,000 Yobe State indigenes through various scholarship programs to study at institutions both within and outside the country.
“This support includes payments for WAEC, NECO, NBAIS, and other entry examinations.
“Just recently, His Excellency sponsored 127 graduates to law school across the country, each of whom also received a laptop and other forms of support,” he said.
The delegation leaders, Hajiya Habiba Adamu and Comrade Mu’azu Ya’u, said they visited the ministry to seek collaboration and support in their mission to improve the lives of women, children, and students, and to help them reach greater heights.
