……Hails UNIMAID Senate for Honouring Distinguished Borno Scholars

The General Manager of Borno Radio Television (BRTV), Alhaji Ali Mamman Shuwa, has congratulated Professor Emeritus Shettima Umara Bulakarima and Professor Emeritus Bukar Bababe on their recent conferment of the prestigious rank of Professor Emeritus by the Senate of the University of Maiduguri.
In a statement issued in Maiduguri, Shuwa described the elevation of the two renowned scholars as “eminently deserved,” noting that both have demonstrated extraordinary commitment to academic excellence, pioneering research, and the mentorship of countless students within and beyond Borno State.
He further noted that their recognition stands not only as a personal achievement but also as a collective source of pride for Borno State’s academic and intellectual community. According to him, the honour underscores the enduring value of their contributions to national development through scholarship, research advancement, and academic leadership.
Shuwa, who also serves as an Adviser to the President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), stated that the conferment of the emeritus title on the two distinguished scholars reinforces the importance of rewarding excellence, integrity, and service in Nigeria’s educational system. He added that such recognition encourages younger academics to aspire to higher standards of scholarship and public service.
He commended the Senate of the University of Maiduguri for acknowledging the remarkable achievements of the two eminent professors, noting that the gesture strengthens a culture of merit and professional honour within the nation’s tertiary institutions.
The BRTV General Manager extended his warmest wishes to Professors Bulakarima and Bababe, praying for continued good health, sustained success, and greater scholarly accomplishments in the years ahead.
