In a significant military transition, Brigadier General Sani Ahmed officially assumed command of the 6 Division Garrison and Commander Sector 3 Joint Task Force South South Operation Delta Safe (JTF SS OPDS) today, August 15, 2024, at the 6 Division Garrison Headquarters, Port Harcourt Barracks, Rivers State.
During the ceremony, outgoing Commander Brigadier General Eu Effiong praised the dedication and discipline of the Garrison’s officers and soldiers, urging them to extend the same support to his successor.
He highlighted Brigadier General Ahmed’s extensive experience within the Division’s Area of Responsibility (AOR), lauding his impeccable character and reliability as a leader.
In his first address as Commander, Brigadier General Ahmed expressed gratitude to his predecessor and emphasized his commitment to working closely with all personnel to maintain peace and stability in the region.
He pledged to build on the foundation laid by Brigadier General Effiong and sought his ongoing mentorship.
The event concluded with the formal signing of the handing and taking over notes, the ceremonial handover of the Command Flag, and a Quarter Guard parade, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the 6 Division Garrison.
