In a dramatic escalation of rhetoric amid the ongoing conflict, U.S. President Donald Trump has declared that Iran is now seeking negotiations following what he described as devastating military losses.

“I can tell you they’d like to make a deal,” Trump said, hinting at possible diplomatic movement even as hostilities persist.

But in the same breath, the President painted a picture of overwhelming U.S. supremacy, claiming Iran’s military capabilities have been crippled.

“Their Navy’s gone, their Air Force is gone, their communications are gone… We are roaming free over Tehran,” he stated.

The remarks come against the backdrop of the intensifying 2026 Iran war, where Washington has repeatedly asserted dominance while simultaneously floating the prospect of negotiations.

Analysts note that Trump has alternated between threats and talk of diplomacy, using military pressure to push Tehran toward a deal.

Despite the bold claims, independent assessments have at times questioned the extent of the damage to Iran’s capabilities, even as fierce exchanges continue across the region.

With tensions still high and no ceasefire in sight, Trump’s latest statement underscores a familiar strategy—project strength on the battlefield while keeping the door open for a high-stakes diplomatic breakthrough.
