Fresh drama has erupted around former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, as operatives of the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) and Department of State Services (DSS) whisked him back into custody en route to Abuja, sparking uncertainty over the status of his earlier bail.
Sources revealed that El-Rufai was taken into custody shortly after appearing before the Federal High Court in Kaduna, where his bail application came up.
Proceedings were, however, adjourned to April 1 after the prosecution filed a late counter affidavit.
In a twist that has raised eyebrows, neither his legal team nor family members were informed of his destination as security operatives moved him out of Kaduna under tight watch.
The development comes just days after the former governor was granted a 14-day administrative bail following the death of his mother. He had returned to Abuja for fidau prayers before heading back to Kaduna for court appearances.
Earlier in the day, El-Rufai had also appeared before the Kaduna State High Court, where proceedings were stalled due to the absence of a co-defendant, forcing an adjournment to April 10.
The sudden transfer back into custody has fueled speculation that his administrative bail may have been revoked, setting the stage for a high-stakes legal showdown in the coming days.
