In a daring midnight assault, security forces successfully repelled a group of armed bandits who launched an attack on the C Watch Security Camp in Rimaye Village, Kankia Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. on June 30, when heavily armed bandits stormed the camp in an attempt to overrun the security outpost. However, their plans were thwarted by a swift and coordinated response from the security personnel on duty.
According to reliable sources who spoke to Zagazola Makama, a team of operatives mobilised quickly to the scene and engaged the attackers in a fierce gun battle. Outgunned and outmaneuvered, the bandits were forced to retreat under heavy fire, reportedly fleeing with multiple casualties on their side.
Amid the intense exchange, the Officer-in-Charge of Rimaye Police Outpost, ASP Shola Odenkule, sustained gunshot wounds to his right leg and also suffered head and hand injuries.
He was promptly evacuated to the Primary Healthcare Centre in Rimaye, where he is currently receiving medical attention and is reported to be in stable condition.
The gallant officer’s bravery in the face of danger has been hailed by local residents and fellow officers, as authorities continue to intensify efforts to secure the area and apprehend the fleeing assailants.
