The Borno State Supervisory Councillors’ Forum has commended Governor Babagana Umara Zulum for what it described as his extraordinary developmental strides across all 27 local government areas of the state.

The commendation was made during a press conference held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Press Centre, Maiduguri, on Friday, where the forum, led by its chairman, Alhaji Kellu Gashau, also formally endorsed the continuation of the Tinubu-Shettima joint presidential ticket for the 2027 elections.

Alhaji Gashau said the forum unanimously resolved to acknowledge Governor Zulum’s visible achievements in key sectors, including education, health, agriculture, and post-conflict reconstruction and resettlement.

He noted that under Governor Zulum’s leadership, thousands of internally displaced persons (IDPs) have been safely resettled in their ancestral communities across high-risk areas such as Baga, Marte, Gamboru-Ngala, Malam-Fatori, and Bama. The forum further highlighted the government’s aggressive efforts in rebuilding homes, restoring civil authority, and improving basic social services.

In the education sector, Gashau said the Zulum administration has continued to invest heavily in infrastructure and human capital development through the construction of mega secondary schools, Islamic colleges in Biu, Monguno, and Nganzai, as well as the recruitment of over 4,000 teachers. He also praised the governor’s initiative to provide decent accommodation for teachers, including the 72 two-bedroom housing units recently commissioned in Mafa.

Similarly, the forum lauded the government’s interventions in healthcare delivery, which include the establishment of Eye and Dental Hospitals in Biu and Monguno, Colleges of Nursing in Monguno and Gwoza, and the ongoing construction of the Borno State University Teaching Hospital, which it described as a landmark project.

On agriculture, the forum commended the administration’s efforts toward food security through the distribution of fertilizers, farm inputs, and the rehabilitation of major irrigation facilities like the Biu Dam to encourage large-scale farming.

Speaking further, Alhaji Gashau said the forum was satisfied with the progress made under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and praised the Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, for his loyalty and contribution to national development.

The forum therefore unanimously endorsed the Tinubu-Shettima ticket for the 2027 presidential election, urging President Tinubu to retain Senator Shettima as his running mate to ensure continuity and stability.

Also speaking, Hauwa Zakariya, Supervisory Councillor for Health in Gwoza Local Government Area, appreciated Governor Zulum for his continuous support to women through empowerment initiatives, maternal health programmes, and welfare interventions.

She also commended Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Wife of the Vice president , Nana Shettima, and Borno First Lady, Dr. Falmata Zulum, for their consistent advocacy for women and children. Zakariya further lauded the Borno State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hajiya Zuwaira Gambo, and the APC Woman Leader, Hajiya Fati Kakunna, for their efforts in empowering women at the grassroots level.
