In an emotional and dignified send-off, the Borno State Police Commissioner, CP Yusufu Mohammed Lawal, was on Monday honoured by the Borno State Security Forum and Allied Forces as he prepares for his retirement on June 8, 2025.
The event, which held in Maiduguri, was more than a farewell—it was a celebration of leadership, courage, and years of selfless service to Borno’s fragile security landscape.
Also honoured were CC Ibrahim Bawa, Controller of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Borno State Command, who will retire on June 28, 2025, and Comptroller (Rtd) CIS Aminu Muhammed Salihu of the Nigeria Immigration Service, who bowed out on June 1, 2025.
Chairman of the Security Forum and Allied Forces, Brig. Gen. N.G. Muhammed, praised the outgoing officers for their “resolute commitment, professionalism, and sacrifice” during one of the most challenging security eras in Borno’s history.
“These men stood firm when it mattered most. Their courage and coordination saved lives and helped stabilize our communities,” the retired general declared.
In a heartfelt closing remark, CP Yusufu Lawal thanked the forum for the honour and promised to remain a staunch ally to Borno’s security sector, even in retirement.
“It has been an honour to serve. Though the uniform will go, my commitment to peace and unity remains,” he said.
The farewell ceremony, graced by top military, police, paramilitary and intelligence officials, marked the end of an era—and the beginning of a legacy.
