The Borno State government announced the successful reintegration of 8,490 repentant Boko Haram members under the innovative Borno Model process.
Commissioner for Information and Internal Security, Prof. Usman Tar, revealed this during an oath-taking event for 560 low-risk and minor ex-insurgents.
Prof. Tar assured that the reintegration process is secure, with all individuals cleared by military and community leaders.
Over the past three years, the Borno Model has not only rehabilitated but also equipped former insurgents with vocational skills such as phone repairs, mechanics, and carpentry, ensuring they contribute positively to society.
Special Adviser on Security Affairs, Brig. General Abdullahi Ishaq (rtd), confirmed the success, highlighting the transformation of former insurgents from various LGAs, now ready to rebuild their lives with community support and starter packs for their new trades.
This initiative underscores the state’s commitment to lasting peace and rehabilitation.
