The Borno State Police foiled an attempted attack by BH/ISWAP terrorists on Malari village in Konduga Local Government Area during the early hours of November 27, 2024.
At around 1:00 AM, the police crack team stationed at Forward Operating Base Malari engaged the terrorists in a fierce gun battle, forcing them to retreat into the bush with bullet wounds. During an on-the-spot assessment, an Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) hand grenade was discovered inside an abandoned Toyota Hilux, believed to belong to a vigilante group.
Explosive Ordinance Disposal and CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear) experts promptly neutralized the threat, scanning the area thoroughly to ensure public safety.
Commending the bravery of his team, Commissioner of Police Mohammed Lawal Yusufu, psc, lauded the efforts of the crack squad and EOD-CBRN Base 13 Maiduguri. He reaffirmed the command’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property, particularly for returnees rebuilding their ancestral homes.
The CP urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or objects to the police via emergency hotlines: 08068075581 and 08023473293.
ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, emphasized that public cooperation remains critical in sustaining peace and security across Borno State.
