Borno Police, PCRC Hold Capacity Building Workshop on Community Policing

The Borno State Police Command, in collaboration with the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), has held a Capacity Building Workshop to strengthen community-police relations and promote intelligence-led policing in the state.

Declaring the event open on behalf of Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, the Secretary to the State Government reaffirmed government’s commitment to supporting security agencies, noting that security is a shared responsibility.

PCRC State Chairman, Amb. Abatcha Umar Nanabe, stressed the importance of trust, collaboration, and information sharing in tackling insecurity. Representing the Commissioner of Police, DCP Ahmed M. Bello delivered a keynote on “Public Safety and Security through Intelligence and Information Gathering,” underscoring proactive policing and community engagement.

The workshop featured discussions on youth restiveness, women’s role in peacebuilding, and strengthening cooperation among security agencies, traditional rulers, and civil society.

Certificates of appointment and recognition were presented to PCRC stakeholders, with Amb. Nanabe appreciating all partners for their support and pledging continued collaboration with the police.
