The Borno State Police Command has launched swift emergency response operations across Maiduguri and surrounding communities following a torrential downpour that led to the collapse of eight buildings in areas including Gomari, Bulumkutu, Jidari, and ITE.
Despite the destruction, authorities have confirmed no casualties, while police teams led by Deputy Commissioner of Operations, DC Garba Audu Bosso, and ACP Jawi Muhammed have been deployed to the scene to maintain law and order.
Commissioner of Police, CP Naziru Abdulmajid, praised the rapid response of his officers and urged residents to stay calm. He also advised parents to keep children away from floodwaters, warning of the dangers posed by rising water levels.
Strategic patrol posts have been set up around the affected areas to safeguard evacuated homes and prevent looting, ensuring continued public safety.
The police assured residents that they remain fully committed to protecting lives and property as the rainy season progresses.
