Borno Police Arrest 97 Suspects Amid “End Bad Governance ” Protests

In a decisive action, the Borno State Police Command, led by Commissioner Yususfu Mohammed Lawal, has arrested 97 individuals during the recent nationwide protests titled “End Bad Governance.” The operation, conducted in collaboration with other security agencies, aimed to prevent and respond to disruptions caused by criminals exploiting the protests.

Before the protests began, the police arrested seven social media influencers for inciting violence and insulting government officials, religious leaders, and traditional figures. During the protests, seven individuals were apprehended for displaying foreign flags, which posed a perceived threat to national security. Additionally, 83 suspects were arrested across various locations in Maiduguri for vandalism, theft, arson, and rioting.

The police recovered several items from the suspects, including, 2 packs of Hilltop tea, 20 stones, 1 air conditioner
, 2 office chairs, 7 foreign flags, 3 bags of NPK fertilizer, 1 half bag of cannabis, 1 sewing machine, 30 blankets
, 1 water dispenser,
1 control switch set, Ashes of tires, 1 office table, Iron rods.
