The Borno State Government has organized a Town Hall Meeting on the 2026 Budget and Planning with the theme “From Recovery to Prosperity – Accelerating Sustainable Growth and Building a Self-Reliant Borno.”
The meeting, held today in Maiduguri, was convened by the Ministry of Budget and Planning to ensure citizens’ participation in the budgeting process. It brought together key stakeholders including Civil Society Organizations, women groups, youth associations, and persons with disabilities.
Governor Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Bukar Tijjani, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to openness, accountability, and participatory governance. He said the government will continue to create opportunities for citizens to contribute meaningfully to policy and budget decisions that affect their lives.
In his remark, the Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Professor Babagana Mustapha Malumbe, explained that the meeting aimed to consolidate the progress made in recovery efforts while focusing on sustainable economic growth and development.
He noted that the 2025 budget will prioritize key sectors such as education, health, agriculture, infrastructure, and youth empowerment to enhance self-reliance and inclusive growth in the state.
Ibrahim Aliyu, A participant at the meeting commended the state government for maintaining transparency and for involving citizens in governance. They called for continued collaboration to ensure the implementation of projects that reflect the real needs of the people.
The event ended with a renewed commitment from all stakeholders to support the government’s vision of building a peaceful, resilient, and prosperous Borno State.
