In a significant humanitarian effort, the Nigerian Army handed over 277 rescued individuals, including women and children, to the Borno State Government.
The transfer ceremony occurred at Maimalari Cantonment in Maiduguri, overseen by Major General Ken Chigbu, Deputy Theatre Commander of the Joint Task Force North-East.
“These are innocent civilians trapped by Boko Haram,” General Chigbu stated, emphasizing the army’s commitment to peace and the rehabilitation of those still in the insurgents’ grip.
Borno’s Commissioner of Women Affairs and Social Development, Zuwaira Gambo, received the rescued individuals, highlighting plans for comprehensive support and reintegration.
The rescued will receive mental health support, family reunification, and livelihood programs, aiming to restore their lives and communities.
