The Concerned Civil Society Groups in Borno State have issued a strong call for the Federal Government to take immediate and decisive action against foreign interference in Nigeria’s domestic affairs. This urgent plea follows recent events during a national protest where a small group displayed foreign flags, sparking outrage over what is seen as an affront to Nigeria’s sovereignty.
The civil society groups emphasized that such acts undermine national unity and could inflame divisions within the country. They expressed deep concern over the potential for foreign entities to exploit domestic issues, citing the destabilization seen in other African nations like Sudan and Libya.
Abdul-Hadi Yunusa, the State Coordinator of the group, stated, “This display of foreign symbols during a national protest is not just a violation of our laws; it’s an attack on our national dignity and autonomy.
We urge the federal government to investigate this incident thoroughly, prosecute those responsible, and reinforce efforts to promote unity and patriotism among all Nigerians.”
The group reaffirmed their commitment to peaceful dialogue and urged the government to take swift action to preserve the integrity of Nigeria’s democratic processes and sovereignty.
